A Note from the Booster President
ATTENTION: Band Booster Meeting: Monday, August 2, 2010 at 7:00p.m. in band room. If you have a student in the band program you are automatically a booster. There is no fee to become a booster at Shades Valley. Booster Meetings are essential and your attendance is greatly needed to further the success of the Shades Valley Band. Mr. Allinder will have lots of information to cover. Freshmen parents make a special effort to attend and get involved with not just a “program” but become a part of an incredible “Band Family”! Look forward to seeing all of you Monday evening.
The Shades Valley Band has adopted the Osei family of Ghana, Africa through:
The cost is $40 per month. That comes to about 25 cents per band member per month. The Osei family consists of a father, mother and one teenage daughter, one adult daughter (not pictured), two young sons, and one adult son. There is currently no information on the child on the mother's lap.
Family and birth dates:
The father's name is Kofi Oseii. His birth date is August 10, 1955. The mother's name is Akosua Tuah and her birth date is July 20, 1964. The younger children's names are Theresa Tekua, 04/18/1990; Thomas Amoah, 06/26/1994; and Benjamin Tuah, 6/25/1995.
Family Information:
The Oseis are Christians and lifelong residents of the Atebubu district in central Ghana. They have a mud house roofed with thach. Kofi and Akosua are farmers. They are assisted by adult children Kwadwo and Yaa. The crops they grow rely on rainfall as no water is piped into the area. Marketing outside the region is limited by poor roads. Kofi needs help to improve, expand, and diversify their farming business. The parents work hard to provide the children with nutritious food, clothing, shoes, health care, and school supplies.Theresa is in the 5th grade and her favorite subject is math. Thomas is in the 3rd grade and he enjoys reading. Benjamin is a 4th grader who also likes to read. Akousua's hope is to have all the children educated. She dreams of building them a better home.
Our sponsorship of the Osei family will help provide them and their community with clean water, improved health care, nutrition, education, and a chance to know God's love.
